Meritorious Service Medal
'During the period September, 1917 to February, 1918, as a Sergeant, this N.C.O. displayed gret enthusiasm, several times soing particularly fine work in the line while on patrol. At all times he has displayed cool judgment and fearlessmess in the execution of his duty. As C.Q.M.S. during recent tours in the line he has never failed to get the rations up to his Company, personally seeing them right through, in the course of which duty at YPRES he was blown off a limber by a shell, but carried on despite severe shock.'

GAINED MEDAL IN FRANCE
Company Quartermaster Sergeant E. V. Rattle, C Company, 24th Battalion, has been awarded tho Meritorious Service Medal for valuable service rendered in France. After active service in Gallipoli he was among the first Australians to arrive in France. At the time of enlisting he was on the staff of Reuter's Telegram Company, Collins street. Melbourne. His wife lives at Wyong, New South Wales.
'C.Q.M. Sgt. Rattle is the elder brother of Corporal F. B. Rattle. D.C.M., who lost his right arm in the battle of Polygon Wood. They are sons of Mr and Mrs Rattle, 32 Ross street, Toorak.
