Albert George Searle (George) Private 9207 

1st Australian Dermatological Hospital

 

George was married to Katherine Dunlop Macleod, they lived in Belmore Rd Randwick NSW and he was an accountant and member of Randwick rifle club.

He enlisted in AIF 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital 1915 and embarked from Sydney on HMAT A61 KANOWNA December that year. George returned to Australia from Suez on ITONUS had nursing duties on board and arrived Melbourne 11 August 1916 and was discharged medically unfit

 

Albert reenlisted on 24 April 1918 only to be found unfit for duty on 6 May 1918

Due to appendicitis

 

Albert had five brothers and two sisters, two of his brothers served in

1st & 5th Field ambulance and one in the 9th battalion

Arthur - served in Egypt and Gallipoli

Henry – served in Egypt – France – Belgium - 9th Infantry Battalion A.I.F.

Frederick Morton – 5th Field Ambulance

Killed in action Ypres, Belgium age 33

 

His cousin Private 3896 Clifford James Searle M.M. he was awarded the Military Medal 

For conspicuous: bravery in the field, he was also in 5th field ambulance  

He served in - Egypt and Gallipoli - Western Front

 

Albert’s - Son

Colin Morton Searle – 402927 Flying Officer - served in WWII with the

Royal Australian Airforce  11/11/1942 to 13/01/1946
