Corporal George Allan Longman (Service No:WX35943) initially served in the AMCF (Gunner; Service No:W2043) with 3rd Australian Field Regiment (3 March 1942 - 10 December 1942) and was 'in the field' on 11 December 1942 when he enlisted in the AIF. Corporal Longman served in New Guinea with 11 Division Provost Coy (2 September 1945 - 6 August 1946) and was attached to 2 Military District Provost Coy at Discharge on 22 May 1947.

Born in Perth, WA in 1923, George was sixth of seven children of George Edward Longman (b1883 at Victoria Plains (New Norcia), WA) and Josephine Benedict Kelly (b1889 at Victoria Plains (New Norcia), WA). George Snr was working as a  Labourer at Mardoo via New Norcia, and in 1909 he and Josephine married at Victoria Plains. They settled at Watheroo, where they raised their family and George Snr worked as a Labourer and Farmer before retiring to Perth in the early 1950s.

George worked as a Farm Hand at Namban via Guildford before enlisting in the Army. In 1946 in Sydney, NSW he married Eileen Anderson (b1923 in Moruya, NSW). Following his Discharge, George and Eileen settled at Namban, and later Watheroo, where they raised their family and George was a Farmer. George and Eileen retired to Perth, where George died in 1991 and Eileen in 1999.
