PASSING OF AN OLD SOLDIER
 
WILLIAM GORDON PULLEN
The death occurred at Orange on 4th November of Mr. William Gordon Pullen, father of Mrs. E. C. Cooper, of Merriwa. Deceased, who was born on  the Clarence River, was 64 years of age. An ex-Serviceman, deceased served with the 21st Battalion, A.I.F., in the 1914-18 World War, in which he was wound ed, and during the second World War was a sergeant in a garrison battalion. For many years past the late Mr. Pullen had suffered as a  result of his war injuries, which, eventually, were responsible for his death. Deceased was well-liked and highly esteemed in the community in which he lived, and his death deeply regretted by a wide circle of acquaintances.
Besides his widow, the late Mr. Pullen is survived by one son, Mr. Arthur Pullen, Merriwa, and two daughters, Rose (Mrs. W. Houlahan, Cassilis),  and "Tot" (Mrs. E. C. Cooper, Merriwa). Deceased is also survived by a brother, Mr. Bob Pullen (Grafton) and five sisters, Mrs. Bowman (Victoria),  Mrs. Grant (Sydney), Mrs. Shaw (Sydney), Mrs. Goodhall (Sydney) and Mrs Avery (Grafton).
The funeral took place on Thursday, 6th. inst., when the remains were interred in the Presbyterian cemetery at Orange. Among the large number  of mourners present was an old comrade with whom deceased had served throughout the first World, War.
