Private Charles Fincher who was killed in the landing at Gallipoli, was 23 years of age, and resided with his parents at Lauriston. He was an enthusiastic footballer, and in his time played for the Kyneton District, Ballarat, South Melbourne and Essendon clubs. Two brothers James and George Fincher, have just gone into camp at Flemington.

Brother of George Francis Fincher who returned to Australia on 8 May 1919 having served with the 59th Battalion and James Francis Fincher who returned to Australia on 28 March 1919 having served with the 5th Pioneer Battalion
