Died on this date - 6th December.......Private Michael Joseph Adams was born at Rockhampton, Queensland in 1889. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 3rd April, 1916 as a 26 year old, single, Carpenter from Rockhampton.

Private Adams arrived in England on 14th November, 1916 & was sent to the Machine Gun Training Dept at Grantham on 23rd November, 1916.

Private Adams proceeded to France on 17th March, 1917. He was sent on leave to UK on 2nd December, 1917.

Private Michael Joseph Adams died at about 5 pm on 6th December, 1917 in the St. Andrew’s ambulance on the way to the 4th Scottish General Hospital, Stobhill, Glasgow, Scotland from a fracture of the skull – the result of an accident.

A Court of Enquiry was held on 7th December, 1917 at 4th Scottish General Hospital, Glasgow, Scotland, enquiring into the cause of death of No. 306 Pte Michael Adams, Australia Machine Gun Corps, 22nd Company. The Court declared that “No. 306 Pte Adams Michael Aust. M.G.C. 22nd Coy., was accidentally killed by falling into No. 3 Graving Dock, Govan on the afternoon of Thursday 6th December 1917, and that the immediate cause of death was fracture of the skull.”

Private Adams was buried in Western Necropolis Cemetery, Glasgow, Scotland where 10 other WW1 Australians are buried.
