Alastair Semple Burns PATERSON was born at 'Roselin', Luggiebank near Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland on 2nd February, 1919
His parents were Gilbert Alexander PATERSON & Jessie Burns McINTYRE who married in Glasgow on 5th February, 1913 - the family arrived in Australia on 12th April, 1923 & lived in Perth, Western Australia
He served in both the Army and the RAAF during WW2 and died during a Flying Battle in the Middle East on 7th November, 1942

His father Gilbert was a Captain in the British Navy during WW1
His brother Donald Howie PATERSON (SN F402) served in the Royal Australian Navy during WW2 and died on 8th December, 1942
Another brother Gilbert Alexander PATERSON ( SN W54846) served during WW2 in the Army and was discharged in 1946
