Personal Story
Aubrey Francis Gale was born on 14 MAY 1896, Carnsdale, New South Wales, Australia.
Aubrey' father, Angus Crozier GALE had died early(1862–23 Oct1899, Myrtleford, Victoria) and so he and his brother James had managed the farming.
Despite this, his patriotism and horsemanship led him to volunteer for the 4th Light Horse and he was sent off to Gallipoli.

Annie Margaret Willoughby, Aubrey's mother,(Gale) had re-married since her husband Angus' death and Aubrey and James' had two step brothers -William John Willoughby(1907–1972)and Charles Edward Willoughby(1910–1979).
After serving in both World War I and WWII, Aubrey returned to Sunshine in Victoria and worked for Sunshine Harvester. This was a company providing employment building tractors and farm equipment. Aubrey had begun life as a farmer and so this was familiar territory.
Unfortunately, Aubrey's brother, James Walter Dundas Gale(1895–1917) was killed in action on the 28 Sep 1917 • Ypres (Ieper), Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders (West-Vlaanderen), Belgium
Aubrey and his wife Ethyl married in 1922 and they had one son, Walter Gale.
Aubrey's WWII Military service was from 1939 - 1948
He died in1959 in Parkville, Victoria, Australia
