A brief background on George.
George the youngest child of Thomas and Harriet Hall was born in 1893. After his mother’s death in 1898 he was largely raised by his older sister Fanny. Fanny’s son James Hall who was only a few years younger than Georges died at Fromelles on 19th July 1916, aged 18. He enlisted in 1915 at the start of the First World War. He was wounded at Gallipoli and later returned to service in France where he died at the second battle of Bullecourt, France on 10th May 1917. As George died of wounds soon after being injured, he has a marked grave. He is buried in the Vraucourt Cemetery.
