Henry Arthur WOODWARD was born in 1891 on the 20th of September in Brighton as a naturally born British subject. His parents were, Hellen Woodward who died during WW1. According to his Attestation Papers his father's whereabouts was unknown so his sister Mrs Roberts was his next of kin. He worked as a labourer before the war. Woodward was 5 ft. 8 inches tall, weighed 151 lbs./68 kg, and his chest was 37 inches. He with a fresh completion, with grey eyes, light brown hair, and  2 vaccination marks on his body. Woodward enlisted in the Australian Imperial force in Melbourne Victoria on the 28th of June 1915, at the age of 23.

On September 10th 1915 he embarked on His Majesty's Australian transport (HMAT) Star of Victoria from Melbourne. He served in the Middle East and on the Western Front. He was promoted to Bombardier 26th July 1916 and Corporal 27th February 1918.

Woodward returned to Australia in May 1919.

On the 10th of May 1942, Woodward enlisted to serve in World War Adelaide. Woodward served in the 4th South Australian Battalion Volunteer Defense Corps. This battalion issued help and local defense in SA during WW2. His final discharge was in 19th October 1945.

Henry Woodward died on the 18th of November 1970 and was buried at the Centennial Park Cemetery.
