Joseph (a Metal Finisher) and ALice married in 1909 in Bilston, Staffordhsire and in 1920 the family immigrated, arriving in Albany WA on board the Demosthenes. Joseph and Alice settled in the Bunbury Region where Joseph was a Settler before moving to Perth WA in 1928, where Joseph was a Labourer.

Stan started work as a Sheet Metal Worker and in 1935 married Winifred Mabel Neve (b1916 in Coolgardie, WA) in Perth WA. Stan was a professional Boxer and working as a Fibrous Plasterer when he enlisted in the RAAF in March 1940. Stan returned to Perth where he worked as a Fibrous Plaster. The couple separated in 1963 and both remarried.
