Bill Patman was a very good sportsman. He represented Dubbo High in the 1935 Astley Cup in rugby union, tennis and athletics. In 1935 he received a sporting Blue for athletics at Dubbo High. Bill Patman played senior rugby league for Western Division. Also, during the war he played in RAAF representative football teams in NSW.
Bill Patman was recruited for the RAAF when the first Blue Train arrived in Dubbo during October 1940. He survived the war.
