Percy was the fifth of eight children of Thomas Henry Wright (b1857 at Westbrook Farm, Busselton, WA) and Hannah Sarah Stinton (b1855 in Coolingup, WA). Thomas (a Farmer) and Hannah married in 1881 in Picton Junction, Busselton, WA. Thomas and Hannah settled at Blackwood River, Balingup where Thomas was a Farmer.
Percy was a Farm Hand at Rokewood in Balingup, WA when he enlisted in the AIF in January 1916. He had served with the 26th Light Horse, and was a Private (Service No:4564) attached to 28th Infantry Battalion. He was WiA in France in 1917 (right leg), and in 1918 he was one of nine Privates from 28th Battalion who were Court Martialled for failing to obey orders. According to the records (National Archives Australia) the Privates from No 14 Platoon were detailed for a working party on 8 July 1918, and stated 'We are not prepared to fall in. We are not getting a fair deal and wish to parade to the Colonel CO'. Men from No 16 Platoon stated 'We will stand by No 14 Platoon' and Private Lee stated in evidence 'We were all tired out and not fit to go on any fatigue'. Lieutenant G K Ryder stated 'I know all the accused. They are excellent men and splendid fighters. They always do their work well'. The men were sentenced to six months imprisonment, which was then suspended. Percy returned to Australia and was Discharged in 1919.
Percy worked as a Farmer at Rokewood before taking up a farm at Fenleigh, Balingup where he was an Orchardist/Farmer. He served with the ACMF (Private; Service No:W70726) from 1942 to 1945 and was attached to 5 Battalion VDC C Coy.
In 1947 Percy married Virginia Isabell McDougall (nee Munyard; b1902 in Perth, WA) - Virginia was a Widow and had moved to Mullalyup (near Balingup) following her husband's death. Percy and Virginia lived at Fenleigh until Percy retired in the mid 1950s and the couple moved to Busselton. Percy died in 1980 an Virginia in 1990.
