Scott was with the 6th Light Horse Regiment when it was sent to Anzac during May 1915. He was severely wounded at Gallipoli on 26 June 1915, with gunshot wounds to the forehead and right thigh. He was evacuated to hospital in Egypt, developed enteric and was then returned to Australia during October 1915 and struck off strength. He went back for another go during July 1916, and rejoined the 6th Light Regiment in the Middle East during August 1916. He served with the 2nd Machine Gun Squadron the second time around. He was sent to hospital with broncho pneumonia and malaria on the 18 November 1918 but died of these illnesses a week later. He was buried in the Ismailia War Memorial Cemetery in Egypt.
