Corporal George Walter Stevens (Service No:17889) enlisted in the RAAF on 30 September 1940 as an Aircraftman I attached to 4 RD Pearce - he had been attached to 25 Light Horse (MG) Regiment (Service No:W1801) ACMF after enlisting on 13 August 1940. ACI Stevens progressed through the ranks to LAC (1 February 1942) and Corporal (1 April 1944) and served in Morotai and Labuan. Corporal Stevens was attached to 3 Reserve Personnel Pool at Discharge on 9 November 1945. Siblings Alfred, Sydney and Arthur also served in WWII.

Born in 1917 in Kellerberrin WA, George was the fourth of seven children of Walter George Stevens (b1885 in Corpo, Victoria) and Annie McCulloch (b1893 in Cooktown, QLD). Walter (a Farmer) and Annie married in 1910 in Northam WA and settled at Kellerberrin where they raised their family and Wlater was a Farmer.

George worked as a Steam Engine Driver and Mechanic in Kellerberrin prior to his service in WWII - in 1944 he married Kathleen Mary Sparkes (b1925 in Busselton, WA) - Kathleen was an Aircraftwoman (Service No:11843) in the RAAF. George and Kathleen settled in Kellerberrin where George was a Mechanic before moving to Mandurah in the early 1970s. George died in 1995 and Kathleen in 2021.
