Hans Hassler (1912-
Hans Hassler, born at Fremantle, WA;
A geologist by profession, he enlistedin the RAAF on 15 Aug 1942 at No.3 RAAF Recruiting Centre, Brisbane, Qld as Air Crew.
Appointed LAC 06 Nov 1942;
He undertoook training at No. 3 Initial Training School Kingaroy, where he was screened and selected for pilot training.
He undertook his Initial flying training at No.5 Elementary Flying School at narromine in New South Wales before being despatched via No. 2 Embarkation Depot to Canadaembarking on 8 Feb 43.
Detached to RCAF for training from 8 Feb 43 to 2 Aug 43 . He was awarded his wings on 8 July 1943, and appointed Temprorary Sergeant, then Pilot Officer on 9 Jul 43 (presumably because he had a science degree).

7 May 45- 13 Nov 45 No.243 Squadron flying C-47 between Australia and various locations in the South West Pacific including Leyte, Morotai, Milne Bay, Port Moresby and others; other aircraft types flown include Avro Anson, Oxford, Wellington, Lancaster;
Appt terminated 07Mar1946.
