Wallace Arthur TWEEDIE was born in Ballarat, Victoria in 1892

His parents were George Bertram TWEEDIE and Margaret HARRINGTON

He enlisted in Helena Vale, Western Australia on 13th October, 1914 and embarked with the 16th Infantry Battalion, E Company on the HMAT Ceramic from Melbourne on 22nd December, 1914

On 1st February 1918 he embarked per HT Balmoral Castle for return to Australia after developing malaria and disembarked on 23rd March, 1918

He was discharged on 10th May, 1918 as medically unfit

Wallace died from Illness on 24th August 1918 in Adelaide and is buried in the AIF Cemetery in West Terrace Adelaide

His funeral took place fomr his late residence, the Duke of York Hotel & he had a military bodyguard from Keswick Barracks which met the cortege - his coffin was draped with the Union Jack flag

His brother Lieutenant Leslie TWEEDIE (SN452) also served in WW1 and returned to Australia in 1918 - he was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal and the Military Cross

Leslie also served in WW2 (SN SX22487) with the Garrison Battalion and was discharged in 1945
