Hans Peter Andersen
Hans was born in Sydney NEW on December 14, 1882 to Hans Andersen a Sydney Barber in Pitt Street, Sydney and Eliza Hackett he was the fifth child of the couple. Hans senior was Danish born and arrived in Australia in about 1870 as soonafter married Eliza and started his Barber Shop in Pitt Street, for a time his son Hans was learning the trade however for reasons unknown he went off to Western Australia and he married Agnes Shaw before joining the AIF 25 March 1916.
Records show his was a strapping lad aged 38 he was 5ft 11 ins tall with a chest of 37-40 inches
On the 20 September 1917 he was wounded in action at Belgium and died on the 29 September 1917 from his wounds at No.9 General Hospital , Rouen, France
Hans is my two times Great Uncle .
