Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal
Edward was a private in the Australian Army Serice Corps, with Service No. 2861 and was CofE. At the time of his death at the 1st Australian General Hospital at Rouen he was unmarried and had been attached to the 1st Field Bakery, aged 28.
Edward was one of ten children, 7 brothers and 3 sisters and was the son of Michael Talbot PUTNEY (Baker and Cordial Maker) and Clara Eliza PUTNEY (nee Holland) of Coolah, NSW.
Edward's brother, 2/Lieut. Frederick William PUTNEY (/explore/people/277387) of the 36th Battalion, 4th reinforcements A.I.F. was also a casualty of WW1. He was killed in action on 12 Oct 1917, aged 37. He left a wife, Alice PUTNEY (nee Sweeney) and a son Keith Talbot PUTNEY.
Edward is buried in St Sever Cemetery Extension, (grave ref: O. VII. J. 2) - His brother Frederick is buried at Tyne Cot Cemetery, (Plot XVI, Row H, Grave 9)
