Len was the second of four children of Charles Nicholas Woolcock (b1870 in Chewton, Victoria) and Rose Harris Bickford (b1874 in Melbourne, Victoria). Charles - a Clerk - and Rose married in 1895 in Melbourne, Victoria where they settled and raised their family.
Len was a Woodworker in Melbourne when he enlisted in the AIF in 1917. He served as a Private (Service No: 21724) with the Australian Army Medical Corps and 12th Field Ambulance. He married Florence May Whitmarsh (b1898 in Wiltshire, England) in September 1919 in Warminster, Wiltshire in England. Len was Discharged in 1920. Brother-in-Law Norman James Atkinson (Private, Lance Corporal; Service No:1205) also served in WWI.
Len and Florence settled in Melbourne, Victoria where Len was a Cabinetmaker. He served in the Militia (Sapper, Corporal, Sergeant; Service No:164259) with the 3rd Division Engineers from 27 November 1929 to 15 August 1938. In March 1941 Len enlisted with the ACMF and was a Sergeant (Service No:V11709) attached to 115 Australian General Hospital when he was Discharged in August 1944.
Len died in 1973 and Florence in 1989.
