Add my storyBiography contributed by Chris Buckley
Clarence was the third of twelve children of Alfred Hislop (b1871 in Quindalup WA) and Alice Mary Harwood (b1875 in Quindalup WA). Alfred - a Railways Employee - and Alice married in 1896 in Quindalup WA. The family lived in Quindalup, Bunbury, Fremantle, Brunswick Junction and Perth.
Clarence was a Wood Carter in Perth WA when he enlisted in the AIF in April 1917 (Private; Service No:8000) with 12/2 Pioneers. He was WiA in April 1918 in France (51st Battalion) - GSW both legs - and was Discharged in 1919.
Returning to Perth WA, Clarence was a Saddler in 1922 when he married Irene Whittaker (b1900 in Fremantle WA). Following Irene's death in 1927, Clarence worked as a Labourer and in April 1940 enlisted with the ACMF. He was a Corporal attached to No 2 Depot Battalion when he was Discharged on 6 October 1941. Two days later, in Swanbourne WA, Clarence re-enlisted with the ACMF (Private; Service No:W27798; Camp Staff Rottnest) and in May 1942 was promoted to Corporal. He was attached to 10 Garrison Battalion when he was Discharged in 1945. Several of his brothers also served in WWI/WWII.
Clarence worked as a Window Cleaner in Perth WA and died in 1968.
