Private Ernest Richard Fisher enlisted in the AIF on 17 August 194 and embarked from Fremantle on 31 October 1914 with 11 Infantry Battalion on board HMAT Ascanius AII. Private Fisher was WiA at Gallipoli Peninsular/Dardanelles on 6 August 1915 and embarked ex Suez for the RTA on 31 October 1915 on board HT Aeneas. He was Discharged on 5 July 1916.

He served with the ACMF in WWII (Private, Sapper; Service Nos:W5893/W82412) with 7 Works and Parks, and the Swanbourne Battalion VDC. He enlisted on 28 June 1941 and was Discharged on 1 January 1943.

Born in Jarrahdale WA in 1885, Ernest was the youngest of nine children of Samuel Fisher (aka James Davies; b1851 in Lancashire, England) and Rebecca Julia McCaffrey (b1852 in Fremantle, WA). Samuel and Rebecca married in 1871 in Fremantle WA. Following Samuel's death in 1889, Rebecca remarried William George Whales (b1862) in 1894 - William was a Boilermaker with WAGR.

Ernest was a Farmer in Cunderdin WA prior to enlisting in the AIF in WWI, and following his Discharge settled at Cundinup nr Collie where he was a Farmer. In 1925 in Perth WA, Ernest married Gladys Jessie Williams (b1904 in Coolgardie, WA). Ernest and Jessie settled in Perth where Ernest worked as a Wagon Builder and Carpenter. In 1949 the couple moved to Babbage Island, Carnarvon where Ernest was a Carpenter. Ernest died in 1960 and Gladys in 1987.
