Embarked from Alexandria for Gallipoli, 16 May 1915. Wounded (bullet wound, thigh), 13 August 1915; admitted to 1st Australian General Hospital, Heliopolis, 13 August 1915; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital; transferred to Composite Regiment, 20 November 1915. Admitted to hospital, Mustapha (venereal disease), 31 December 1915; discharged from Mustapha to Overseas Base Duty, 18 January 1916. Returned to duty, 6 February 1916; taken on strength, 3rd Light Horse from 10th Light Horse, 6 March 1916. Promoted to Sergeant, 13 March 1916. Wounded in action (mild bomb wound, thigh) and admitted to 3rd Australian General Hospital, 26 June 1916; invalided to England, 7 July 1916, and admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, 19 July 1916. Transferred from Light Horse Details to 51st Bn, 5 October 1916. Wounded in action, 30 March 1917; rejoined unit from wounds, 9 April 1917.
