Born:  5th January 1886, Broken Hill, New South Wales

Father Cuthbert ALLISON and Mother Josine Eliza ALLISON,
lived at Lane Street, Broken Hill, New South Wales.

He lived majority of his life in Broken Hill, prior to moving to Sydney to enlist.

Ernecliffe last lived at 32 Blue Street, North Sydney, NSW prior to enlisting.

Ernecliffe was described on enlisting as 29 years 7 months of age; single; 5' 9" tall;
170 lbs; dark complexion; brown eyes; brown hair; Church of England

01/07/1915  enlisted into WWI in Sydney, NSW

14/01/1916  appointed to 9th reinforcements, 18th Battalion, Casula

20/01/1916  embarked from Sydney, NSW onboard HMAT A54 Runic
                   as a 2nd Lieutenant with 18th Battalion, 9th Reinforcement

26/02/1916  disembarked into Alexandria
                   marched in to Zeitoun

27/03/1916  proceeded to join British Expeditionary Forces, ex Alexandria
03/04/1916  disembarked at Marseilles, France
05/04/1916  taken on strength 2nd Australian Division Base Depot (ADBD)

14/04/1916  mild influenza, admitted to Liverpool Merchants' Hospital, Etaples, France
22/04/1916  discharged to duty

01/06/1916  taken on strength of 'B' Company, 18th Infantry Battalion

Killed instantly by a shell, in the early hours of the morning of 5th August 1916, about
50 yards from junction of Tramway Trench and main Albert-Bapaume Road.  Owing to
the heavy fighting which occured about this time, it was impossible to mark the exact
position of the grave, but a cross was erected on the approximate site.

05/08/1916  killed in Action at Pozieres, Somme Sector, France

Sadly due to continual bombing his grave was not located.

His name is commemorated on:-

- Panel 84 at the Australian War Memorial, Canberra, ACT
