Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
His brothers, 3944 Pte. Roy William Stephens 59th Battalion AIF, killed in action 19 July, 1916, aged 22 and 3945 Company Sergeant Major John Dunstan Stephens, 59th Battalion AIF, killed in action, 25 April 1918.
Thomas was twice wounded, once in 1917, shrapnel to the knee and once in 1918, a gunshot wound to the scalp. He was returned home for ‘family reasons’ during December 1918, probably due to the death of his two brothers. Thomas died in a motorcycle accident near Colac during 1924, still only 26 years of age.
