NICHOLAS SOPHIANOS. I was the second child born on 6th April1949 in Melbourne.
After the WW2 having served in the Army my father got on a troopship back to ITCAHA GREECE to see his parents. My dad work on the troopship as a chef to bring back the miliary service personnel back home to Australia. Dad started dating with my mother Maria from a ITACAHAN father and ENGLISH / NEW ZEALAND mother. Her parents went to ITACHA for a holiday some years before the start War in Europe and got caught out with Axis powers of Mussolini then Hitler takeover and occupation of whole of Greece. My mother was the 3rd child of the 5, the eldest was Jannetta that had serviced in the Greece King elite miliary. Jannetta services in his village was to look after the villagers for food etc. Sadly, after near of the war in 1944 the Greek Communists got word of Jannetta elite Miliary services and was sorted out and was brutally executed with 5 others. His parents feared for they lives were able to get to PORT SAID EGYPT with my mother's family and my dad. Dad got married and my sister Caroline was born 1948, Dads best friend help to get a ship back Australia and New Zealand. Dad came to Melbourne to work at Lyons Cafe near YOUNG JACKSON in Swanson Street as the Managers Chef for many years. l was born in 1949 and lived in Hawthorn. Dad worked very hard to put a roof on our heads and had 3 more children. ln 1958 dad was able to obtain a fruit stall in Flinders Street Station near Elizabeth Street from RSL for his services in WW2. Dad was always a very hard worker and started at 4. o'clock in the morning to late nights was a very sad day when my DAD pass away leaving a young family. Dad had an Australian Flag place over his coffin as acknowledgement for his services to his county an a PROUD Australian .
