Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Ralph Weaver left London bound for Fremantle, Western Australia, during May 1911.

On enlistment at Blackboy Hill during 1914 he gave his next of kin as his father John Weaver, Kings Green, Wichenford. This has later been amended to his widowed mother, Mrs Fanny Weaver, 141 Hylton Road, Worcester, England. He was 35 years of age and stated he had served three years in the Worcester Regiment in South Africa.

He served at the Anzac landing with the 11th Battalion. Ralph was sentenced to 3 days field imprisonment for disobedience of orders by smoking in the firing line on 26th June 1915. During August 1915 he was sent off sick to hospital in Mudros, Greece before returning to duty in the Dardanelles during October 1915.

After the evacuation of Gallipoli, he transferred to the 51st Battalion and was promoted to Sergeant only two weeks before the 51st Battalion made a heavy assault on the formidable Mouquet Farm position and suffered extremely heavy casualties. Ralph Weaver was reported killed in action on 3 September 1916.
