All had been working on the Siam railway when he developed tropical ulcers on his leg which were neglected, necessitating the removal of the leg at Khonkan Hospital, 55km (evacuated from 105km Camp Aungganaung 19.11.1943 with tropical ulcer. Right leg amputated middle thigh on 22.11.1943)
