Lance Corporal Raymond Williams (Service No:V85709) enlisted in the ACMF on 20 June 1940 and served with 3D Salvage Unit. He was attached to 6 Supply and Personnel when he was Discharged on 18 June 1943.

Born in 1900 in Warrnambool Victoria, Ray was the eldest of two children of Joseph Williams (b1859 in Warrnambool, Victoria) and Harriet Miller (b1870 in Woodford, Victoria). Joseph (a Labourer) and Harriet married in 1893 in Cudgee, Victoria and settled in Warrnambool where Joseph worked as a Labourer.

Ray worked as a Carpenter in Warrnambool and in 1926 married Maty Philomena Harrington (b1902 in Warrnambool, Victoria) - Mary was a Factory Hand. Ray and Mary settled in Melbourne where Ray worked as a Bus Driver, and in 1940 as a Bookmaker. Following his Service in WWII, Ray returned to Melbourne and worked as a Bus Driver. Mary died in 1967 and Ray in 1978.
