Recommendation:-
‘At PLOEGSTREET WOOD from the 26th May to 13th June 1917, this officer was in charge of TRENCH TRAMWAYS. The lines were shelled daily and frequently damaged, and casualties to animals heavy, but, owing to the initiative of this Officer, especially during the offensive operations on the 7th June, all demands for transport of Ammunition, Grenades, Stores, etc were met. His camp was frequently shelled and gassed. Throughout the operations he showed great coolness and courage, and was a splendid example to his men’.
