Son of Walter and Olieve (nee BROWNLIE) HOAD, "Toronto" Frenchman's Road, Randwick, NSW
Walter served in Palestine and contracted diptheria. He was invalided to Chubre Hospital 26 November 1917 and returned to duty January 1918.
Mr. Walter Hoad, farmer, of Quandialla, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hoad, of Cootamundra, and formerly of Yarrangobilly Caves, died on Thursday morning. The late Mr. Walter ("Bossie") Hoad, was a returned soldier of the 1914-1918 war, enlisting from Yarrangobilly Caves. He is survived by his widow, one brother, Leo, of Yarrangobilly Caves, and sisters are Mrs. George Day and Mrs. Taylor (Yarangobilly Caves), Mrs. J. Leonard (Cootamundra), Mrs. Cohen (Sydney), Mrs. Barnett (Wollongong), and Mrs. Slade (Sydney). After the late Mr. Hoad disposed of his property, he bought another at Quandialla. He had been a patient of the late Dr. Hertz for many years, from whom he was receiving treatment for war injuries. The funeral took place in Cootamundra on Friday afternoon.
