World War I began on July 28, 1914, when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. This small war between the counties spread rapidly: soon, Germany, Russia, Great Britain, and France were all drawn into the war. The war took place over the world, in Europe, Mideast, Africa, Pacific, Atlantic, Mediterranean, North Sea, and Baltic Sea. During this War around 17 million people were estimated to have died. World War 1 went for a time period of only four years. World War 1 Ended November 11, 1918.
Born in Hammersmith England, Albert Edward Walton moved to Australia to live in Sydney, New South Wales where he worked as a Fitter. Even though he had no previous military service he joined anyway, he was a single man having nothing to lose if he joined the War. With his Mother, Mrs Emily Walton, who lived in Hammersmith, London, England next in kin. He was at the age of 33 years and 3 months at the time of enlisting himself for War with a height of 1.73 meters and blue eyes and blond hair. After the War had begun in 1914, later on in 1916 Albert enlisted to join World War 1 on 4 February 1916. After joining the War Albert joined 9th Field Company Engineers to become a Sapper.
Albert enlisted for the war on the 4th of February, 1916 Casula NWS, Australia. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A31 Ajana on 5 July 1916 to then go to war overseas. Albert did not suffer any disabilities before going to war. Once the war had started on the 13th of July 1916 he was already hospitalised for a total of 49 days straight and then discharged from hospital only to return back into the war again. After that he has hospitalised another two times before the war had ended, and every time after being discharged from the hospital he returned back to war. But on the 21st of December 1917 he was convicted of a crime over the time of 6 days, he was then put in custody for a day, no other information was found. Once the War had ended on the 11th of November 1918 his fate was to return to Australia on the 21st of June 1919 back from the War.
Albert was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal as per standard to every solider. There was no information found about his death or when he died. He was completely discharged on the 9th of February 1920.
