THE LATE PRIVATE ALLENGAME.
Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Allengame, of Tailem Bend, have been officially notified that their third son, Private Percy H. D. Allengame, bomb thrower, aged 24 years, was killed in action on July 20th, 1916. He was previously reported missing. Private Allengame enlisted in October of 1915, and left for Egypt on February 7, 1916, where after some months' training he, with his battalion, embarked for France. At the time of enlisting he was employed as linesman by the Commonwealth Telegraph Department in the metropolitan area.

14/10/1915 Commanding Officer appointed Percy to E Company, 2nd Depot,
Adelaide
7/2/1916 embarked from Outer Harbour, Port Adelaide on board HMAT A28 Miltiades
as a Private in 3rd reinforcements, 32nd Infantry Battalion, 8th Infantry Brigade
11/3/1916 disembarked into Suez, Egypt
Entered into 8th Training Battalion, Zeitoun.
1/4/1916 taken on strength into 32nd Battalion, Duntroon Plateau
17/6/1916 embarked to join British Expeditionary Forces, ex Alexandria
on board HMAT Transylvania
23/6/1916 disembarked into Marseilles, France
20/7/1916 noted as "MISSING"
20/7/1916 later stated as: killed in action at Feur Baix, Fromelles
Private 2111 C G G Smith stated:
"at 3.30am on 20/7/1916 at Feur Baix, the 32nd battalion made an attack on
German trenches Private Smith was wounded and lying by the side of a shell hole,
in which he saw the body of Private Allengame, whom he knew well.
Private Allengame and Private Smith were lying in the trenches between the
German and English trenches."
NO known grave
His name is commemorated on Panel 4 to the Missing at VC Corner Cemetery
on the Memorial at Fromelles, France.
