Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of James and Catherine Darling Anderson; husband of Dorothy Anderson, of Wollongong.

ALFRED JAMES ANDERSON.
Word has been received from the A.I.F. military camp at Dubbo of the death of Pte. A. J. Anderson, an ex member of the. Gerringong Sub-branch of the R.S.S.A.I.L.A. Living in the Gerringong district at the outbreak of the war the late Pte. Anderson enlisted in the Garrison Battalion and was stationed at Port Kembla. After unsuccessful attempts to join the A.I.F. he was accepted some few weeks ago and was posted to Dubbo camp as a machine gunner, where he died on Thursday, 26th June. At the military funeral the  Gerringong Sub-branch was represented by members of the Dubbo Sub-branch.
In the Great War Pte. Anderson enlisted at an early age and was a member of the Australian contingent that went to New Guinea. He later re-enlisted in the 34th Battalion and
saw service in France, so it can truly be said that he did his bit for his country. While in camp at Port Kembla he was married. His wife is now living at Fairy Meadow, Wollongong. To her, sincere sympathy is extended in her bereavement.
