George put his age up by 12 months at enlistment. He was actually 17 years and 3 months not 18 and 3 months as shown on his attestation papers.
Georges parents gave their consent for him to serve in the AIF in December 1915 approximately one week before he embarked on the HMAT A35 Berrima. He was taken on strength to the XIA Bty from 1st DAC approx one month after his 18th birthday.
