67 Corporal Kennedy Adams Robinson, with a very low regimental number was one of the originals of the first Battalion to land at Gallipoli, the 9th Queensland Battalion. Robinson was wounded in action at the Landing and severely wounded during July 1916.
One of four brothers, from Nundah Queensland, who served, one a Lieutenant Colonel who commanded the 26th Battalion during 1918 and won the DSO and MID three times, another also a highly decorated officer (MC) with the 41st Battalion. Another brother served with the 3rd Machine Gun Battalion.
Kennedy Adams Robinson was a 19-year-old carpenter, when he was one of the first Australians to enlist for WW1 in August 1914. He was appointed Lance Corporal before he left Australia with the original A Company of the 9th Battalion in September 1914.
Robinson was wounded in action at the Gallipoli landing, a gunshot to the right toes. He rejoined his unit June 1915, and was promoted Corporal 3 July 1915.
He transferred to the 49th Battalion February 1916. He disembarked Marseilles, France June 1916, and transferred to the 13th Light Trench Mortar Battery during July 1916. He was wounded, 2nd occasion, during July 1916, bomb wounds to the chest and thigh, and never fully recovered from his wounds before he was returned to Australia in January 1918. He was granted a pension soon after his return of 3 pounds 8 shillings a fortnight.
