MR. D. R. BARCLAY
Mr. David Robert Barclay, who recently died in Adelaide, was the youngest son of Captain James Barclay, of Goolwa, one of the pioneers of the River Murray. Mr. Barclay, who was 56 years of age, was born in Goolwa, and after being engaged in the butchering business for some years, shipped on the steamer Cadell at Port Broughton, and later became engineer of that vessel. When the war broke out Mr. Barclay enlisted in the Engineering Corps, and served for several years. On his return he was engineer on the steamers Dispatch and Captain Sturt, of the River Murray, respectively, for some time. Mr. Barclay left a widow. Mrs. William Byrnes, of Currency Creek, is a sister.
