Percy George Archibald BARR was born in 1897 in Oxford, England
His parents were Thomas Havelock BARR and Beatrice Maud ARCHER who married in Pancras, London in 1895
Percy arrived in Australia as a young child with his family and later served in the Senior Cadets for 4 years as a Sergeant in the 34th Infantry Battalion and also in the Citizen Military Forces for 1 year before he enlisted in Liverpool, NSW on 14th July, 1915 and embarked with the 2nd Battalion, 10th reinforcements from Sydney on the HMAT Warialda on 8th October, 1915
He died on 19th July, 1916 at Fromelle in France due to an exploding shell - his burial place was unclear but he is listed by the Commonwealth War Graves as being at Rue du Bois Cemetery in France
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
