Moreton Mitchell HAMPSON was born on 22nd January, 1895 in Brisbane, Queensland

His parents were William Henry HAMPSON and Emily Sinclair BROWN

He had previous service & was still serving with the Militia when he enlisted on 18th August 1914 with the 3rd Battery Australian Field Artillery -  Unit embarked from Brisbane on board HMAT Rangatira on 25th September, 1914

He died on 21s August, 1916  from wounds received from a bomb dropped from a German aeroplane - he was located at the 2/1st South Midland Casualty Clearing Station when he died

Moreton is buried in Warloy-Baillon Communal Cemetery Extension, France.

HAMPSON.- In ever loving remembrance of Gunner Moreton M. Hampson, killed in action on the Somme, August 21, 1916 aged 21 years

Dear silent grave, where'er you be, you hold the ashes of the free

Australian son, unknown to fame, you left behind a glorious name.

Also his sister Dorothy who passed away Sept 3rd 1915 aged 25 years

And in death they were not divided
