Sid was the second of three sons of John Kirkbridge (born 1870 in Yorkshire, England) and Emma Partington (born 1863 in Yorkshire, England). John and Emma Married in Sydney, NSW in 1885, and Sid and younger brother Stanley were born in Fremantle, WA.
Sid was living in Guildford, WA and working for the WA Governemtn Railways as a Car (Locomotive) Builder when he enlisted in 1915 in the AIF as a Private with 32nd Battalion D Coy (Service No: 1303). Sid was WIA in France on 21 November 1916, and a Gunner with 14th Field Artillery when he was KIA near Ypres, France on 4 October 1917
