Enlisting in November, 1914, was retained on Home Service— Examination of Recruits. Promoted major and appointed Adjutant to P.M.O., N.S.W., and was then P.M.O. till transferred to A.I.F. in March, 1918, as lieutenant-colonel. Sailing 5th June as S.M.O. No. 9 Sea Transport Section as major, served at A.I.F. H.Q. and later as Embarkation M.O. till May, 1919, returning as S.M.O. troopship “ Swakopmund ” 23rd September.
