He enlisted in February 1916, after being rejected onceand sailed with his battalion for England in June of the same year and reached France in November following. he recieved a letter of congraduation from General Monash for Gallant Action in the Field. Two brothers enlisted in the 9th Light Horse regiment and one was discharged after severe illness.
