On Monday night last, at the invitation of Mr. and Mrs. W. Meers, a number of friends and relatives attended a welcome home dinner, which was tendered to their son, Driver Carlton Meers. The function was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs. H. B. Cohen (soninlaw and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Meers). About 30 sat down to the table, which was beautifully decorated. After a very nice dinner had been partaken of, and the toast of the King been honored, Mr Hugh Raphael proposed the health of the guest of the evening, the toast being supported by several of the visitors. Mr. G. H. Cohen proposed the toast of Mr. and Mrs. Meers, which was responded to by Mr. W. Meers. The toast of Mr. W. Wisby (grandfather of the soldier guest) was proposed by Mr. R. J. Cohen, ,and responded to by Mr. Wisby. The toast of the ladies was also proposed by Mr. Raphael. All the toasts were mu sically honored.
