Son of Matthew C. Quinlan and Amy Quinlan of 'Acacia', Chapman Street, Summer Hill, NSW. Brother of Matthew Harvey Quinlan who returned to Australia on 6 March 1919 having served with the 53rd Battalion

Commenced return to Australia on 19 August 1919 aboard HT Ajana as nursing staff disembarking on 9 October 1919
