Son of Mark Usher and Sarah Usher nee McNamambly of Bacchus Marsh, Victoria formerly from Burra, SA.
Brother of James Walter Henry Usher who returned to Australia on 18 April 1919 having served with the 27th Battalion and Mark Usher who returned to Australia on 29 December 1918 having served with the 3rd Division Train.
Husband of Mary Jane Usher nee Ambly of Barry Street, Carlton, Victoria. Alfred and Mary married during 1916c in Victoria
Commenced return to Australia on 5 July 1919 aboard HT Port Melbourne disembarking on 20 August 1919
