John Montague COLLETT was born on 12th April, 1898 at Wynyard, Tasmania
His parents were John Thomas COLLETT & Anne COULL (COWELL)
He had previously served for 2 years in the Tasmanian Cadets & 2 years in the Victorian Cadets before he enlisted in Melbourne on 20th December, 1915 and embarked on 2nd October, 1916 with the 22nd Battalion, 16th reinforcements on the ship HMAT Nestor
John died of cerebro spinal meningitis at the Military Hospital in Devonport , England on 27th November, 1916 and is buried in the Plymount (Efford) Cemetery
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
