2 Dec 1918: Honoured Military Cross, "The Last Hundred Days", At Morcourt Valley on 8 August 1918, during the advance of the 32nd Battalion, he displayed great bravery and set a fine example to all ranks. When guiding the Battalion, the first Company was thrown forward to fill a gap of 300 yards and to clear the wood in the valley - Lt Lucas took control of the left Platoons and by fine handling and great personal courage the wood was quickly surrounded and cleared woth more than 100 prisoners captured.
16 Jun 1919: Embarked AIF WW1, Lieutenant, 32nd Infantry Battalion, RMS Ormonde, England for return to Australia - arriving Sydney 4 August 1919.
