Biography contributed by Faithe Jones
Mr. Beaumont, of Combarngo station (Surat), has just received news of the death of his only son, Bernshaw Lomax, who was killed in action in France. The deceased soldier had been in the firing line for over a year, and had never been ill a day, nor had he received the slightest wound up till the time of his death. He had taken part in all the important actions in which Australian troops were engaged. He left Queensland with the 41st Battalion, but was recently transferred, to the Lewis Gun Section. The brave young fellow asked and was granted his father's consent to enlist on the day after his 18th birthday. He was a pupil at the Cathedral School for about 12 months, and later was at the Toowoomba Grammar School. He used to attend the Roma State School.
