Add my storyBiography
Lieutenant Jack Marston Norton, 11th Field Company Engineers was a 22 year old architect from Rose Park, South Australia, when he was appointed a 2nd Lieutenant on 23 March 1916. Prior to enlistment he was a member of the Adelaide Rowing Club where his portrait was sourced, one of 13 members of the Club who enlisted for service in WW1.
He embarked for overseas from Adelaide on 31 May 1916 aboard HMAT Suevic.
He saw action in France and while at Messines in February 1918, suffered so badly from trench feet that he had to be evacuated to England for treatment. Lieutenant Norton later returned to Australia and his appointment was terminated on 4 February 1920.
He was later resident at Watson Avenue Rose Park. He was a member of the RSL until 1927 (sub branch not specified)
