14 Jan 1918: Honoured Military Medal, Polygon Wood, For bravery on morning of 26 September 1917 at Polygon Trench, he rendered assistance under a heavy barrage to a seriously wounded officer and moved him to the dressing station. Later he provided invaluable assistance to the stretcher bearers in dealing with wounded under heavy fire.

He was 36 and the son of David Young and Isabella Fraser.

He was awarded the Military Medal 20.11.1917.

He is one of two Australian soldiers of the Great War commemorated on the Cupar War Memorial.
